SUPER SARAH in GERMANY!

Ja, ich spreche Deutsch!

Es fing in der 10. Klasse an, als ich in der High School Deutsch studiert hatte. Mir hat die Sprache sofort gefallen und meine Lehrerin hat mir uberzeugt ein ganzes Jahr als Austauschschulerin in Deutschland zu leben. Ich wohnte in Neuhausen a. d. F. in der Nähe von Stuttgart und ging auf das Heinrich Heine Gymnasium in Nellingen. Das war 1986-1987 und war ein unbescreibliches Erlebnis!

Mir hat Deutschland so gut gefallen, daß ich 1990 zurück gegangen bin. Ich studierte Deutsche Sprache und Kultur auf der Universität Hamburg, und habe ich an der Technischekrankenkasse gearbeitet. Diesmal war es besonders interessant weil gerade in der Zeit hatte ich alles mit dem Wiedervereinigung erleben können! Ich war eben in Berlin am 3.10!

Ich bin im 1993 mit meinen Eltern wieder zurück nach Hamburg geflogen und habe ihnen die wichtigen Sehenswuerdigkeit meines ehemaliges Lebens gezeigt.

Im Sommer 2001 bin ich nochmal zurück gegangen und auf eine wunderschöne Motorradreise durch ganz Deutschland gefahren. Ich hatte mir ein Honda Motorrad besorgt (CBR600), und bin damit über all hingefahren. Hier gibt's eine Galerie mit photos dieser Reise.

Ich habe immer noch meine tollen deutschen Freunden, und freue mich auf alles Deutsches. Warum eigentlich Deutsch? Ja, ich bin doch Deutsch durch Abstammung erworbene Staatsbuergerschaft! Bin in den Staaten geboren, aber mein Hertz liegt immer noch in Deutschland. Und ja, ich esse Sauerkraut sehr gern... =)

Heutezutage freue ich mich riesig, für die Deutsche Firma Hein Gericke zu arbeiten. Ich wohne halb in Deutschland und halb in USA, und arbeite mit Motorrad Bekleidung. Ganz schön toll finde ich diese Situation - die Besten von beiden Ländern erlebe ich.

So Jetzt findet mich man entweder in USA oder in Deutschland, immer auf Motorrad natürlich!

Yes, I do speak German!

It all started when I was in 10th grade in High School. I took German for 2 years and enjoyed it so much my teacher pulled me aside one day and recommended that I do a study abroad program. It sounded exciting to me, and my parents who are world travellers thought it was a fantastic idea, so off I went, to Germany for a year! I started out in BBad Kreuznach for a month of oreientation and language training, and spent the rest of the year in Neuhausen a. d. F, a city close to Stuttgart in der Nähe von Stuttgart. I went to Heinrich Heine Gymnasium (the German High School equivalent) in Nellingen, ironically at that time, 1986-1987, there was still heavy American occupation in Germany, and Nellingen was the site of an army base. However, I wanted to maximize the value of my stay overseas and spent the time ignoring the "Ami's" I saw on the bus and around town. This year was an amazing experience!

I liked Germany and everything German so much, that I went back again in 1989-90. I was only there for 1/2 year this time on a study/work abroad program in Hamburg. I studied German language, history, and culture and then worked at a German health insurance company.
This time in Germany it was particularly interesting because I was there to experience the Reunification - talk about experiencing history! I even went to Berlin for the big celebration on October 3rd!

In 1993 I went back to visit with my parents in tow. We flew to Hamburg and I got the chance to show them all of the things that were important to my experience there.

In the summer of 2001 I went back for an awesome experience riding around the country on a borrowed CBR600. At the end of this story you'll find a photo gallery from this trip.

Over the years I kept in touch with my German friends and maintained my fascination for everything about Germany. Why Germany anyway? Well, I'm of German heritage, and even though I was born in USA (3rd generation), I fell in love with Germany and the culture. Oh, and yes, I love Sauerkraut! ;-)

Today I'm happily working for a Germany company, Hein Gericke. I live in Germany half of the time and in the US half of the time. Ich wohne halb in Deutschland und halb in USA. My job involves working with motorcycle apparel and specifically the women's motorcycle market. I really enjoy this lifestyle - I get to experience the best of both worlds! (and eep working on my German...)

So you see, I can be found either in the US or in Germany - always at motorycle events of course!
